Benefits of Accreditation
The benefits of this process are too numerous to list, but a few of the major ones include:
- Public confidence in the integrity, professionalism, and accountability of the law enforcement agencies is enhanced and maintained. Performance is predicated upon the skills and abilities of the individual officer.
- Since the successes of organizations are directly linked to the quality of the training employees receive, organizations that have FLETA Accredited training are more successful. Law enforcement training is literally a life and death proposition. Lawsuits and liability pertaining to training and/or failure to train can be minimized.
- Accreditation ensures a disciplined and systematic approach to training. The right Federal law enforcement training is provided at the right time in the right way.
- Training program and course content and associated performance and evaluation criteria are subjected to on-going review to ensure they are current and timely. Supervisors, trainers, managers, and administrators have increased confidence that employees will perform in an acceptable and legal manner.
- As Federal law enforcement officers are trained in comparable programs, they are better able to work together across agency and departmental lines, share common terms and techniques, and cooperate more fully to fight crime.
- As organizations seek accreditation, training issues, qualifications of instructors, improved training methods and techniques are raised in priority, resulting in improved training outcome.
