A date for the pilot Team Leader Training Program has been set for March 6-8, 2012.
The Board has mandated that all existing Team Leaders, as well as future team leaders, will successfully complete the Team Leader Training Program. Existing Team Leaders will have until the end of FY 2012 to satisfy these requirements in order to maintain Team Leader status. Additional classes will be announced after completion of the pilot.
The class will be limited to 12 students.
For those personnel interested in becoming a team leader, below is the recommendation/qualification process.
1. FLETA Board Members, Authorizing Officials, the OA Executive Director (ED), and Program Managers (PM) may nominate an individual for consideration as a TL. To be considered eligible, nominees must meet the following requirements:
a. be recommended by their agency (by letter or Team Leader Application form)
b. have conducted a minimum of three assessments within the previous three years, one of which may be a self-assessment for another agency
c. receive OA ED approval based upon:
i. experience and performance as an assessor
ii. leadership qualities
iii. feedback received from the FLETA community
iv. recommendation from the OA PMs
2. Personnel selected as Assessment TLs must successfully complete the Team Leader Training Program administered by the OA. In addition to classroom training, new TLs will complete an on-the-job training (OJT) assignment with a qualified TL Mentor and receive a positive evaluation from the mentor before managing assessments independently.
3. Team Leaders will be evaluated after each assessment by the OA. The evaluations will be based on feedback received from the agency being assessed, assessment team members, and the quality of the documentation submitted to the OA after the assessment.
4. Team Leaders must continue to meet all requirements designated for assessors.
To register for this first class, please send an email to Billy McLeod, OA Program Manager, at billy.mcleod@dhs.gov. If you have any questions please contact Billy at (912) 267-2485. Thank you.
