Brian Peters is the Chief of the National Law Enforcement Training Office, Department of the Interior. Located on the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center facility in Brunswick, Georgia, he coordinates with FLETC and Interior Bureaus on training requirements and related policy. Prior to his appointment in August, 2010, Mr. Peters was employed by the FLETC for five years, including assignments as Chief of the Training Management Division and Chief of the Center Basic Programs Branch during the first FLETA accreditation of the three major basic programs.
Mr. Peters spent 23 years as a Park Ranger in the National Park Service, mostly in the Southeast, including five years as Chief Ranger of Cumberland Island National Seashore. Working mostly in smaller parks, Mr. Peters had a wide variety of experiences as a Park Ranger. In the area of training, he was detailed to the FLETC as a law enforcement trainer, has taught at the NPS’ Albright Training Center, coordinated Motorboat Operator Certification Courses, and developed and conducted safety training, wilderness management seminars, and other topics during his career. He has expertise in training management, curriculum development, training policy, and law enforcement program management.
