Kristine E. Blackwell

Kristine BlackwellColonel Kristine E. Blackwell was assigned as the Commander, US Air Force Special Investigations Academy (USAFSIA), in July 2010.   She directs training for the Air Force Office of Special Investigations at four separate locations.  The main academy is located on the campus of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center and trains over 1,000 students annually in basic and advanced criminal and counterintelligence investigations, protective service operations, polygraph, and technical investigative services in support of AFOSI’s worldwide criminal and counterintelligence investigations missions.  Prior to her current assignment, Colonel Blackwell was Deputy Commander of the AFOSI 4th Field Investigations Region, Randolph Air Force Base, TX.  Other previous assignments include Commander, AFOSI Detachment 105, Robins Air Force Base, GA, and Air Force Criminal Investigations Program Manager, Office of the Air Force Inspector General, the Pentagon.  Colonel Blackwell has also served outside her specialty in positions as diverse as Military Assistant to the Under Secretary of the Air Force and Air Force Fellow, Congressional Research Service, Library of Congress, Washington, D.C.       

 

Colonel Blackwell entered the Air Force in 1988 as a distinguished graduate of the Reserve Officer Training Corps program.  She received law enforcement credentials in 1989 and began her career as a criminal investigator at Mather Air Force Base, Sacramento, CA.  Since then, she has served in numerous field and staff positions and deployed in support of AFOSI’s wartime mission.  Her most recent deployed assignment was as Deputy Director of the joint Strategic Counterintelligence Directorate, Baghdad, Iraq.

 

Colonel Blackwell hails from coastal Massachusetts.  She graduated in 1988 with a Bachelor’s of Art degree from Wellesley College, Wellesley, MA, and holds Master’s degrees in Criminal Justice and Military Science.
