Patrick Corcoran
Patrick Corcoran is the Inspector in Charge of the Operational Support Group, which is comprised of the Career Development Unit (CDU), the Postal Inspection Service academy, the National Law Enforcement Control Center (NLECC), as well as the agency’s radio and polygraph programs. Inspector Corcoran has over 30 years with the Postal Service, including 26 years as a Postal Inspector.
Inspector Corcoran’s experience with training began when he served as the Denver Division’s Threat Management Coordinator where he was a certified instructor in Firearms and Officer Survival. From 2003 to 2006, Inspector Corcoran was promoted to the Assistant Inspector in Charge at the CDU in Potomac, MD, where he managed the Basic Inspector Training (BIT) and Postal Police Officer Basic Training Programs (PPOBT). During this time, the CDU, for the first time, received accreditation for its BIT and PPOBT programs, as well as for the academy.
Inspector Corcoran became the Inspector in Charge of the CDU briefly in 2008, but was reassigned because of agency reorganization. He was subsequently reassigned as CDU’s executive manager when he became Inspector in Charge, Operational Support, in October 2010. Inspector Corcoran is a graduate of the University of Colorado.
