FLETA Board Grants Initial Accreditation to Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration Program

The Federal Law Enforcement Training Accreditation (FLETA) Board ispleased to announce it granted initial accreditation status to theTreasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA) Special AgentAdvanced Training Program (SAATP) at the July 12, 2012 meeting inGlynco, Georgia. Assistant Inspector General for Investigations MichaelDelgado accepted the certificate of accreditation, thanking the TIGTAteam and noting accreditation gives the training ultimate credibility.“It makes sure our training remains relevant in the future”, hecommented.

 

The SAATP provides TIGTA Special Agents advanced training inTIGTA-specific investigations, including computer crimes and otherspecialty areas. TIGTA Special Agents attend the training every threeto five years to remain current on advanced techniques and evolvingcriminal methodologies.

 

To achieve accreditation, agencies submit to an independent reviewof their academy and/or program to ensure compliance with the FLETAStandards and Procedures in the areas of: Program Administration,Training Staff, Training Development, and Training Delivery, with anadditional 20 standards for Academies. Accreditation is a cyclicalprocess occurring every three years. Each year, agencies must submitannual reports in preparation for reaccreditation, which is a new andindependent review of the academy/program.
