The Department of State was one of the first departments to achieve FLETA accreditation in 2005. The Diplomatic Security Service’s Office of Training and Performance Standards is responsible for oversight of the Academy.
The Office of Training and Performance Standard’s mission is to train and sustain a workforce capable of effectively addressing and overcoming the law enforcement and security challenges required to support U.S. Foreign Policy in the global threat environment now and into the future. The Office provides basic and in-service law enforcement, technical security, counter-terrorism, technical security, information assurance, diplomatic courier, and other professional training to Diplomatic Security agents and security engineering personnel being assigned throughout the world. The Office also provides a wide variety of specialized security training programs and country specific training/briefings to State Department personnel and their families, and for personnel from more than 43 other government agencies who are assigned overseas.
