NCIS Special Agent Sliwa is currently the Assistant Director for the Training and Workforce Development Directorate. In this capacity, he directs and oversees NCIS special agent basic training, advanced training, international training, and the development of the NCIS workforce in alignment with NCIS, Department of the Navy, and Department of Defense priorities.
Special Agent Sliwa began his law enforcement career in 1994 as a Police Officer with the Macon Police Department in Macon, Georgia. Starting in the patrol division he achieved the rank of Detective and member of S.W.A.T before joining NCIS.
In 1999, Special Agent Sliwa joined NCIS and served in a variety of organizational and leadership assignments focusing on national security operations, counterintelligence investigations, counterterrorism, and criminal investigations at the San Diego Field Office, Middle East Field Office (Bahrain), Washington Field Office, Far East Field Office (Japan), NCIS Headquarters, and the Pentagon. At the Pentagon he served as the NCIS Senior Representative to the Department of the Navy from 2014-2016.
From 2016-2018, Special Agent Sliwa served as the Special Agent in Charge (SAC) of the Protective Operations Field Office in Washington, DC. SAC Sliwa was responsible for eleven global protection details including the Secretary of Defense, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Secretary of the Navy, the Chief of Naval Operations, the Commandant of the Marine Corps, PACOM, CENTCOM, and SOCOM.
From 2018-2019, Special Agent Sliwa served as Assistant Director (AD) of the Cyber Directorate. As AD, Special Agent Sliwa directed all aspects of law enforcement and counterintelligence-related cyber activity for the Department of the Navy, focusing on detecting, deterring, and neutralizing the activity of state sponsored actors.
From 2019-2021, Special Agent Sliwa served as the Chief of Critical Technology Protection (CTP) leading the Neptune Silo Campaign. In this capacity he coordinated and integrated NCIS Cyber, National Security activities, Fraud, and Analysis efforts to protect 1.1 trillion dollars in Department of the Navy technology research.
Special Agent Sliwa graduated from Georgia College and State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice Administration and Master of Public Administration. Special Agent Sliwa's awards include the Medal of Valor, two DON Meritorious Civilian Service Awards, Secretary of Defense Global War on Terrorism, and Meritorious Unit Commendation Award.
