
Charles Miller serves as the Director for the National Criminal Investigation Training Academy for the IRS Criminal Investigation (IRS-CI), located in Brunswick, Georgia. He has been in this position since June 2025.
As Director, Mr. Miller leads the development, oversight, and continuous improvement of a comprehensive portfolio of training programs for IRS-CI employees. He ensures that IRS-CI’s workforce remains at the forefront of financial crime enforcement through robust, standardized, and accredited training programs – spanning foundational, advanced, and leadership levels. He works in close collaboration across IRS-CI and with external partners to maintain program excellence, uphold compliance, and ensure mission readiness.
Previously, Mr. Miller was the Special Agent in Charge for the Detroit Field Office, where he had direct oversight for planning, directing, and evaluating the investigative activities of IRS-CI employees in the state of Michigan. In this role, he prioritized the investigations of income tax evasion, money laundering, and other related financial crimes. These investigations encompassed fraud in legal industries, illegal industries, and narcotics related financial crimes, as well as terrorism financing.
Mr. Miller began his career as a special agent in 2005 in Merrillville, Indiana. Since then, he has served in various management roles within IRS-CI in locations including Roanoke, VA; Washington, DC; Ogden, UT; and St. Louis, MO. In these positions, Mr. Miller supervised investigative operations and provided leadership on national programs.
Mr. Miller graduated from Weber State University in Ogden, Utah in 2002 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
