The Maritime Law Enforcement Academy is located on the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center campus in Charleston, South Carolina. The MLEA was established in 2004 as the Coast Guard combined existing law enforcement training from facilities in Yorktown, Virginia, and Petaluma, California, into the single Charleston location in order to meet the increased demands of a post 9/11 environment.
