Assessor Training Program

The Assessor Training Program (ATP) prepares participants to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of a FLETA assessor. Participants will discuss the role of FLETA in improving federal law enforcement training and operations, while discovering the vital role assessors have in ensuring the integrity and credibility of FLETA. Working as a FLETA team member, participants will complete the assessment; evaluate agency policies and procedures in accordance with the FLETA Standards; and document their findings.

Length

  • Pre-ATP Online (mandatory completion prior to attending in-person)
  • In-Person ATP - Three Days (mandatory completion)
  • Post-ATP - Online (optional developmental opportunities)

Qualification Process

  1. Pre-ATP – Delivered online via FLETA HSIN. Participants are required to successfully complete all Pre-ATP blocks of instruction, reading assignments, and written exams PRIOR to attending the in-person portion of the program. (Required to complete)
  2. In-Person ATP – Participants must successfully complete the three-day in-person aspects of the program. The In-Person training focuses on the knowledge, abilities, and tasks required to complete the assessment. There is more hands-on practice with reviewing files, writing assessment comments, and performing as a team. (Required to complete).
  3. Post-ATP – After graduation from the blended ATP (Pre and In-Person), graduates will have access to exercises that they may use to further develop their skills as they await assignment as an On-the-Job (OJT) assessor. Post-ATP exercises will be available via the FLETA HSIN. (Optional development opportunities)
  4. Successfully complete an on-the-job assignment as an assessor, working with each section of the standards, and receiving a positive evaluation from the assessment team.
