FLETA Reaccredits FLETC

For Immediate Release
Members of FLETC received the FLETA Certificate of Reaccreditation

The Federal Law Enforcement Training Accreditation (FLETA) Board is pleased to announce it has granted reaccreditation status to The Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) academy and the Law Enforcement Instructor Training Program (LEITP) at the November 3-5, 2015 meeting in Glynco, GA.

The FLETC provides basic and advanced law enforcement training to 95 Federal Partner Organizations (POs), as well as to state, local, tribal, and international law enforcement agencies. Annually, the FLETC provides more than 300 different training programs at the four different training facilities (Glynco, Charleston, Cheltenham, and Artesia). This is equivalent to approximately 150,000 student-weeks of training each year.

The LEITP was initially designed in 1975 to prepare newly appointed Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) instructors for training assignments. The LEITP is ten instructional days in length. The LEITP is primarily available to Federal organizations; however, state and local organizations may participate on a space-available basis. Partner organizations include the Executive, Legislative, Judicial Branches as well as Independent organizations and state and local organizations.

The FLETA Board is the accrediting body for all federal law enforcement training and support programs. To achieve accreditation, agencies submit to an independent review of their academy and/or program to ensure compliance with the FLETA Standards and Procedures in the areas of: Administration, Training Staff, Training Development, Training Delivery, and Distance Learning. Accreditation is a cyclical process occurring every five years. Each year, agencies must submit annual reports in preparation for reaccreditation, which is a new and independent review of the academy/program.
