FLETA Board Grants Reaccreditation to Two AFSF Programs
The Federal Law Enforcement Training Accreditation (FLETA) Board is pleased to announce it granted reaccreditation status to the United States Air Force Security Forces Academy Security Forces Apprentice Course and the Security Forces Officer Course at the April 15, 2021 meeting.
The purpose of the Apprentice Course is to train students to perform law enforcement, security, and ground combat skills duties as Security Forces enlisted members. The program is 65 instructional days and consists of 521 hours of instruction. The course graduates approximately 4,000 to 5,000 students per year.
The purpose of the Basic Officer Course is to train and prepare Security Forces Officers for duties in defender career field. The program is 70 instructional days and consists of 601 hours of instruction. The course graduates approximately 110 to 200 students per year.
The FLETA Board is the accrediting body for all federal law enforcement training and support programs. To achieve accreditation, agencies submit to an independent review of their academy and/or program to ensure compliance with the FLETA standards and procedures in the areas of Academy/Program Administration, Training Staff, Training Development, and Training Delivery. Accreditation is a cyclical process occurring every five years. Each year, agencies must submit annual reports in preparation for reaccreditation, which is a new and independent review of the academy/program.
