Initial Accreditation

The purpose of the MCRTBTP is to prepare the student to document a crime or death scene in accordance with NCIS policy, procedures, and protocols. The skill sets for the introductory course include notetaking, sketching, photography, and documenting human remains. The course is hosted at the NCIS Pacific Forensic Training Center (PFTC) located aboard Marine Corps Base (MCB) Camp Pendleton, CA. The course combines classroom learning and laboratory exercises, incorporating mock death scenes with simulated evidence. The MCRTBTP is three instructional days and consists of 24 hours of instruction. The average number of students per iteration of the program is 16.
