The United States Office of Personnel Management, National Background Investigations Bureau (formerly FIS) National Training Center is the Federal Government’s largest provider of background investigations and services, supporting more than 100 federal agencies’ personnel security programs.  NBIB  processes over 90% of the federal government’s background investigations and conducts over two million investigations annually.  In addition to regional offices world-wide, NBIB also has operations in Washington, DC; Ft. Meade, MD; Boyers, PA and Slippery Rock, PA.

The NBIB National Training Center (NTC), located in Slippery Rock, PA, first opened its doors in November of 2009.  In February 2010, the NTC submitted applications to FLETA to have two programs considered for accreditation.

In April 2013, the FLETA Board unanimously voted to award accreditation to the Federal Background Investigator Training Program (FBITP) and Essentials of Suitability and Adjudication Program (ESAP).  Subsequently, the NTC applied for Academy Accreditation with the FLETA Office of Accreditation.
