The Federal Law Enforcement Training Accreditation (FLETA) Board is pleased to announce it granted initial accreditation status to the U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Supervisory Leadership Training Program, and reaccreditation status to the ICE Instructor Development Course, at the May 6-8, 2014 meeting in Quantico, VA.

The Supervisory Leadership Training Program (ICE-SLT) course is designed to provide ICE first-line supervisors with the knowledge, skills, and abilities that contribute to successful job performance. The competencies taught during the ICE-SLT course are identified as those behaviors demonstrated by exemplary leaders and are aligned with the Executive Core Qualifications (ECQs) as developed by the Office of Personnel Management. The ICE-SLT course is taught at the ICE Academy in Dallas, Texas.

The ICE Office of Training and Development is responsible for providing the highest quality training to the ICE workforce.  ICE training personnel must possess the technical knowledge, experience, developmental and instructional skills required to fulfill their assigned duties.  To best meet the needs of ICE employees, the ICE Office of Training and Development created the Instructor Development course (IDC). The instructional goal of the IDC is for graduates of the course to safely, legally, and professionally instruct ICE Academy Training program modules of instruction, and to be able to work with instructional specialists to design, develop, and deliver ICE programs of instruction. During the five-day program, students learn principles, methods, and techniques that are important to their success as ICE instructors.

The FLETA Board is the accrediting body for all federal law enforcement training and support programs. To achieve accreditation, agencies submit to an independent review of their academy and/or program to ensure compliance with the FLETA Standards and Procedures in the areas of: Program Administration, Training Staff, Training Development, and Training Delivery, with an additional 20 standards for Academies. Accreditation is a cyclical process occurring every five years. Each year, agencies must submit annual reports in preparation for reaccreditation, which is a new and independent review of the academy/program.
